FAQ

Understand the Life in the UK test and how to prepare — quickly and confidently.

What is the Life in the UK test?

It’s a computer-based multiple-choice test about UK history, values, traditions, and everyday life. It’s commonly required as part of a settlement (ILR) or British citizenship application.

How does the test work (format and timing)?

The test is computer-based, lasts 45 minutes, and includes 24 multiple-choice questions. You’ll get your pass/fail result on the day of the test.

What score do I need to pass?

You need 75% or more to pass — that’s 18 correct answers out of 24.

What should I study for the test?

The questions are based on the official handbook (“Life in the United Kingdom: A Guide for New Residents”). A good plan is: learn by section, practice daily, and focus on your mistakes.

How does LifeUKPrep help me prepare?

LifeUKPrep is built for quick revision sessions (especially on mobile). You can practice one question at a time, take timed mock exams, and use Mistakes mode to fix weak areas fast.

What is Mistakes mode and why is it useful?

Mistakes mode collects questions you answered incorrectly so you can repeat them. When you get a mistake right, it drops off the list — so your revision stays focused on what you actually need.

How do mock exams work here?

Mock exams are 24 questions with a 45-minute timer so you can practice under realistic conditions. You’ll get a review at the end to see what to improve.

Do you save my progress?

Yes. Your progress is saved locally in your browser (localStorage). If you switch device/browser or clear browser data, your progress may reset.

I found a typo or something confusing — how do I report it?

Use the “Report an issue” link shown on questions (or email hello@lifeukprep.co.uk). That helps us fix content quickly.

How can I contact you?
